New Song Cares for Children
We are excited to announce that Child Care will be offered for young children during worship starting October 24th! Fourteen trained volunteers, who will work in teams of two, have chosen to serve young children as caregivers. Wow!
We will be ready to receive children ages infant through kindergarten starting at 5:15 in the education wing of the church which is downstairs. There will be planned Bible Stories and activities for 3-5 year olds.
Parents, when using Child Care please:
1. Arrive early enough to introduce your child to the caregivers and look around the room.
2. Fill out child information forms on your first visit.
3. Sign your child in and out each week.
4. Tell your child you are returning. “I’ll be back to get you when church is finished.”
5. Label diaper bags and other personal items.
6. Tell the caregivers of any special needs your child may have: pacifier, bottle, bathroom procedures.
7. Enjoy worship and know your child is being cared for with love!

November 7, 6:30-8:30
Children in Kindergarten through 6th grade are invited to SuperSaturday on November 7. Our topic will be Helping Others and our Bible Lesson will be Mark 6:30-44, Jesus Feeds the 5,000. We will have related activities, crafts, music and a snack. Children are encouraged to invite friends and neighbors to join them at SuperSaturday. You need not make a reservation but if you know your child is coming please contact Pam at pamkjennings@hughes.net to help facilitate planning. Children are asked to bring food to donate to the Holy Cross Food Bank.
Happy Birthday to Gus Mossop on Nov. 11th. Gus will be One Year Old! We ask God to bless Gus and his family as he blesses all who know him.
Show kids you care: Carve a pumpkin with them, give them healthy snacks, contribute to their collections, point out what you like about them, be relaxed, ask them to help you, tell them that God loves them.

Research tells us a lot about babies these days. Did you know that a 10 month old will use prior information to understand actions? They will benefit when they see the desired result of the action first. For instance, a child may learn to open a Children’s Bible if you first show the open page and then show the action needed to get the same result.
Pam’s page: Bibles and kids
In September, children received Bibles from New Song Church. It was gratifying to see how much they liked them. Just as the school and home connection is vitally important to a child—so it is with the church and home connection. Parents are their child’s first and most important teacher of faith development. The Church, as partner to the parents, is there to help also. Below are some of the important concepts to teach children about the Bible.
The Bible is a collection of 66 books divided into 2 parts: the Old Testament and the New Testament. The books of the Old Testament were written before Jesus was born. The books of the New Testament were written after Jesus was born.
The first four books of the New Testament; Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are called Gospels. The word Gospel means “good news”. The words and stories in these books tell the good news of how Jesus came to show us what God is like.
Play a search and find game with your children. First, remind them that:
1. The name of the book comes first
2. The chapter of the book is the first number
3. The other number or numbers stand for the verses read.
4. A listing of the books of the Bible will be found among the first pages.
Bible verses for your child to find:
Mark 10:14 “Let the little children come to me.
Psalms 24:1 “The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it.”
Romans 8:39 “Nothing will be able to separate us from the love of God.”
Ephesians 4:2 “Be completely humble and gentle.”
Isaiah 49:13 “For the Lord comforts his people.”
I hope you will enjoy reading the Bible with your children. We enjoy reading it with them at church, too. Although some of the concepts are hard to understand—the message of God’s love for all people is one they embrace with understanding and enthusiasm.
Blessings!
