Children's Ministry @ New Song Church

At New Song Church, children are valued and respected as special blessings. They bring new life and enthusiasm into our midst.  We encourage and plan for children's participation in all areas of church life including worship, mission, education and social activities.  Children have participated in planning New Song Church from the beginning and we appreciate their ideas and contributions.

We would love to have you and your children (or grandchildren) join us at New Song Church.

Take a look at our Children's Ministry Newsletter by clicking below.

Or, if you would like to receive the Children's Ministry Newsletter via email, please send your request to Pam Jennings (pamkjennings@hughes.net)

In each issue you will find information about upcoming events at New Song, including our monthly SuperSaturday.  Plus, each newsletter contains valuable, developmentally appropriate ideas and suggestions for parents and other adults involved in children's lives. Be sure to check out "Pam's Page" each month!

Worship and Children

  • Children of all ages are welcomed into our family friendly worship services.  The cry of a baby or voice of a child will be greeted with understanding and love.
  • Each worship service includes a Children's Message.  We invite all children to come forward at that time.
  • Activity bags are provided for children during worship.
  • Children often participate in worship at New Song by greeting, reading, praying, singing, sharing artwork, collecting offering or making announcements.

Mission and Children

  • New Song Church has many opportunities for children to participate in mission projects.
  • Children are encouraged to participate in planning and hosting parties at shelters and other care facilities.
  • Children are active helpers during food drives, school supply collections, and special projects like collecting shoes for Water in Kenya.
  • New Song children create artwork to be given to those who need their spirits lifted.  Art projects this year have included making Valentines, bookmarks,  posters and flyers.
  • The topic of service to others is an ongoing part of the children's curriculum.  Children are encouraged to choose individual service projects of their own during the year, such as washing the nursery toys, planting flowers, or helping clean the church grounds.

Education and Children

Infants and Preschool Children

  • Childcare and Christian education is provided during worship for infants through preschool age.  Children have the opportunity to hear a Bible lesson and participate in related songs, activities and crafts.  Play is also an important part of these sessions.
  • Parents of this age group receive a flyer in the mail every three months.  The flyer includes information on child development and suggestions for activities and prayers for the family.
  • Parents of young children are invited to participate in a discussion group with other parents.  This group meets after worship two or three times a year.  Child care is provided.

Elementary Through Sixth Grade

  • SuperSaturdays is a program designed especially for this age group.  Each first Saturday of the month, children are invited to stay after worship for an extended evening of Bible lessons, related activities, crafts, music, snacks and fun.  The program begins at right after worship and ends at 8:30.
  • Twice a month after the sermon, children are invited to leave the worship service to go to classrooms for a mini-lesson.  Leaders engage the children in discussion and Bible lessons on the scripture and topic of that evening's sermon.  An activity or craft is sometimes part of the mini-lesson before closing with prayer.
  • Older children considering baptism may choose to participate in a Pastor's class.  Please contact Rex Loy (rexkloy@hotmail.com) for more information.
  • Each September during a worship service, children in fourth grade will receive a Bible.
  • Watch the New Song News and the Children's Ministry Newsletter for more information of activities and events for this age group.
